What is Multi-Origin Shipping?
Multi-Origin Shipping (aka Multi-Source Shipping or Multi-Vendor Shipping) feature allows you to set up shipping methods and rates based on multiple warehouses. For example, your FedEx shipping option may serve the stock in Los Angeles, while UPS serves New York stock. Our Multi-Origin algorithm automatically selects the optimal origin for the product to ship from if it is available in multiple stocks. You may whether split checkout or merge shipping options by origins.

Multi-Origin Shipping - Usage Scenario

Accurate rates for one cart shipped from several warehouses
  • Profile
A merchant holding stock across several warehouses, each served by different carriers.
  • Challenge
Checkout calculated shipping from a single location, so any order that had to be split across warehouses was priced wrong and corrected manually before fulfilment. Carrier availability differed by warehouse, which the single-origin calculation could not express at all.
  • Solution
With Calcurates Multi-Origin Shipping, the store defined its Origins, mapped products to the locations they ship from, and assigned the carrier methods available from each warehouse — FedEx from one, UPS from another. Where a product is assigned to more than one origin, the multi-origin algorithm decides which to ship from automatically, weighing distance to the customer's address and keeping the number of origins per order to a minimum. Calcurates then calculates the rate for each origin involved and sums them into one total at checkout.
  • Stack
    Calcurates Multi-Origin Shipping + Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) / WooCommerce + warehouse origins + product-to-origin mapping + per-origin carrier methods + real-time carrier rates.

Platform note: On Shopify, order routing between locations is handled by Shopify itself. Calcurates calculates and sums the shipping rates for the origins Shopify assigns, rather than selecting the origins.
  • Outcome
The shipping cost reflects where the order actually ships from and which carriers serve each location, and multi-warehouse orders no longer need correcting before fulfilment.
  • Timeline
3–4 business days for setup, once the requirements are confirmed and the customer has provided all the required information.
We have used this app to enable Multizone, and multi-vendor shipping, which has worked great. There were some minor issues in configuration, but the team at Calcurates were great at understanding our requirements and providing a fix in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this app.

Calcurates is our preferred shipping rate calculator for both Shopify and Magento 2. We've tried all the different solutions for charging duties and taxes at checkout, and Calcurates is the winner by far. They even help us calculate the shipping costs of packages coming from multiple warehouses, using multiple carriers, all in one order. Their pricing is a lot better than their competitors as well. we received during and after implementation
